Cybersecurity training company CAPSLOCK and BAE Systems, a global leader in defence, aerospace and security solutions, have launched a new partnership, designed to provide learners with the knowledge and hands-on experience they need to join the UK’s growing cybersecurity sector.
This move is particularly significant given that the UK government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) reported that almost half (49%) of all cyber firms have faced problems as a result of the skills gap, either among existing staff or job applicants. Additionally, the cybersecurity recruitment pool faces an estimated shortfall of over 14,000 people.
BAE Systems is sponsoring the CAPSLOCK certified cyber security practitioner course with fully funded places for successful applicants provided by the UK Government’s Skills Bootcamp funding, as part of its Lifetime Skills Guarantee. The four month online training course starts on 27 November and will train 40 new cyber security professionals by March 2024.
Learners will gain core technical and non-technical skills in areas such as governance, risk and compliance, offensive and defensive security and business resilience. BAE Systems’ sponsorship means that everyone who graduates from the course will secure an interview with the Company for upcoming cyber roles across its UK businesses.
The partnership aims to empower aspiring cybersecurity professionals, boost DE&I efforts, and address the cybersecurity skills gap. Additionally, on successful completion of the course, all learners will be offered a guaranteed interview opportunity with BAE systems.
